I’m not a heavy listener of rap nowadays – considering the state of the genre and the music being release under it lately however, their are a few Artist who are keeping me glued. Intriguing, relevant in growth and sharpness of his genre, Kid Cudi proves he’s here to stay. As a new comer, he released his forth coming album “Man on the Moon” earlier this year and its a distinctive record. One of the tracks that stood out for me was “Pursuit of happiness”. After listening to this individual track, I knew they had to release it as a single eventually – so they are. The video was shot and it is well done. I’m blown away by the simplicity of it as well. The concept is repeated, but its handled stylishly. Another Artist that is redefining the genre of rap itself is Drake. He makes an appearance in the video that is Directed by Brody Baker.
Two well known Artist release their LP’s today: Rihanna and Lady GaGa.
1. Mad House.
2. Wait Your Turn.
3. Hard feat. Jeezy.
4. Stupid In Love.
5. Rockstar 101 feat. Slash.
6. Russian Roulette.
7. Fire Bomb.
8. Rude Boy.
9. Photographs feat. Will.i.am.
10.G4L.
11.Te Amo.
12.Cold Case Love.
13.The Last Song.
“Rated R” is Rihanna’s fourth studio album and really reflects a dark era in her life after her altercations with fellow Artist and former boyfriend Chris Brown. Rihanna went to production of “Rated R” and really developed a new image, sound, by pouring her emotions into each track – the birth of a fighter had manifested. “Russian Roulette” was released as her first single off of the CD and is a great setup to the other tracks on the album. Personal tracks I recommend are: “Cold Case Love”, “Hard”, “Last Song”, “Wait Your Turn”, and “G4L”. These really reflect an emotional and new Rihanna. Even though it isn’t a full track, “Mad House” is well done and should have been a full record. One down side of the album would be the track “Photographs” which was produced by Black Eyed Pea’s front man, “Will.I.Am”. The track doesn’t match the tone of the album. Rated R is a must have and I really vouch for it.
1. Bad Romance.
2. Alejandro.
3. Monster.
4. So Happy I Could Die.
5. Speechless.
6. Dance In The Dark.
7. Telephone feat. Beyoncé.
8. Teeth.
At first, this LP was labeled an deluxe edition of her first album. GaGa was quick to clear the air and informed everyone this release is indeed her second effort. Even though it is an eight track release, the construction of the tracks are good. At first listen though, its hard to get into but, when you take another listen, the songs begin to grow on you. I’m not a fan of the lyrics because most of it sounds concurrent with one another – not always a bad thing. The tracks I recommend are “Bad Romance”, “Telephone”, and “Speechless”. Over all its a good album and she seems very passionate on what she creates and its hard to find artist like that nowadays.
Here are the music videos to both of their first singles:
“30 Seconds To Mars” Premiered their new music video to their entitled EP “Kings & Queens” and I must say, the cinematography showcased in the music video is astounding. I haven’t come across a music video that structured itself upon image and style in a along time. This work of art is definitely mind blowing and represents the track in all its glory. “30 Seconds To Mars” is a fantastic band and I’m a huge fan of their music. “This is War” will become the bands third studio album and so far they’re jet rocketing to mars with this well composed single.
